About Us

Doma blends is a vegan luxury home fragrance company that create fine home fragrances that are free of animal-derived products and made with alternative, plant-based materials. Our Petroleum free candles and wax melts are made with natural, non-toxic waxes; rapeseed, soy and coconut. We use the finest perfume oils exported from France and Belgium that are free from phthalates and parabens and blended with pure essential oils.

What is '3P Free' - Why does it matter?

We have identified 3 commonly used highly toxic candle ingredients '3P': PetroleumPhthalates and Parabens.

Petroleum wax (also known as Paraffin/ Mineral wax) is a cheaply sourced, readily available material. Well known candle brands and most high street stores still insist on manufacturing their candles with petroleum derived wax. Derived from crude oil; It significantly improves the scent throw of candles. Using petroleum based wax with Phthalate formulated fragrances creates an attractive margin for mainstream candle companies.

Phthalates are a group of chemicals commonly used in a variety of consumer products, including fragrances as a chemical binder, to increase their intensity, longevity and flexibility. However, studies have suggested that exposure to phthalates can cause endocrine disruption, leading to potential health problems such as birth defects, ADHD, behavioral issues, developmental issues, and decreased fertility.

In response to these concerns, the European Union has banned the use of several types of phthalates in consumer products, including toys, personal care products, and medical devices. The ban aims to protect public health by reducing exposure to potentially harmful chemicals. Other countries and regions  have also taken steps to regulate or ban the use of phthalates in consumer products. Unfortunately the UK is still yet to ban.

Parabens are not considered safe in candles due to their potential health risks. Parabens are a type of preservative commonly used in personal care products, food, and candles to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. However, studies have suggested that parabens can disrupt hormones.

When candles containing parabens are burned, the heat can cause them to be released into the air and inhaled, leading to potential exposure to these harmful chemicals.

Why are wicks important?

Lead wicks were once commonly used in candles, but have since been banned in many countries due to the health risks associated with lead exposure. When burned, lead wicks can release lead fumes into the air, which can be inhaled and potentially lead to serious health problems.

Cotton wicks are a safer and more eco-friendly alternative. Cotton is a natural, renewable material and is considered non-toxic. Additionally, cotton wicks are biodegradable and do not release harmful chemicals into the air when burned.

How are we different?

Our Fragrance blends are always '3P free'

We use natural, vegan vegetable waxes; Rapeseed, Soy and Coconut. Compared to petroleum waxes, natural waxes are free of harmful chemicals and emit fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) when burned. These waxes are made from renewable resources and are biodegradable, making them a more environmentally friendly option.

We source our fragrance ingredients worldwide. Our precious essential oils travel from Indonesia and Australia whilst our phthalate and paraben free high quality perfume ingredients are developed in France and Belgium. We only use essential oils that are sustainably farmed and never from endangered species. Our perfume oils are IFRA approved, meaning they meet all safety and sustainability standards.

We only use hand braided cotton wicks in our luxury candles.

Our scents are unique, luxurious and sophisticated. Providing you with fine home fragrances or an elevated experience.
